
Flood warning extended for Manatee River near Myakka Head

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC/Gray News) - Alabama authorities say a person has died after a tree fell on a home in Birmingham Saturday morning.According to Birmingham Fire and Rescue, crews were called to the home on Monterey Drive after midnight regarding two people being trapped inside.The person was pronounced dead once rescuers were able to check the scene. There was no immediate word given on the condition of the second person. Hurricane Isaias moved through parts of Alabama during the overnight hours Friday and into Saturday morning after making landfall hours earlier in the Florida panhandle.Isaias made landfall as a Category 2 hurricane and then quickly moved north through Alabama, bringing strong winds and periods of heavy rain across the state.The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office in Florida has also confirmed a fatality since Isaias’ landfall, stating that a downed tree has taken the life of a resident.
