Stuff the Bus food drive returns Sunday to Manatee County Publix stores

BRADENTON, Fla. (WWSB) - Shoppers can help fight hunger in Manatee County this Sunday by donating food during the annual “Stuff the Bus” community food drive.The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 11 at 19 participating Publix stores throughout Manatee County. Customers can look for a School District of Manatee County bus in the parking lot to drop off nonperishable food items. Monetary contributions will also be accepted at collection sites.All donations benefit The Food Bank of Manatee, a program of Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee, and stay local to help individuals and families in need.United Way Suncoast, participating Publix stores and the School District of Manatee County are partnering for the event, presented by Mosaic.Organizers say The Food Bank of Manatee relies entirely on community support to provide hunger relief.Volunteers are needed to help with the drive.
